Hi Juliette,

thanks for reading my blog, glad you like it! affiliates tend to be websites, as such affiliate marketing is simply a payment mechanism. your best bet is to speak to the affiliate network you're with who will be able to advise you on the best affiliates to get in touch with.

if you have your own inhouse affiliate campaign, google for various terms e.g. fashion, and you should find various websites (e.g. vogue) these can all be considered affiliates, as a general rule of thumb if there isn't a check out platform and the articles are more review oriented you're looking at an affiliate.

the best way to get affiliates is to email them and ask what they need from you to advertise/show your products.

Thank you very much for this blog, very helpful.

I have just launch my website which I have just set up an affiliate program for and I am looking for quality fashion bloggers to join our program, I have also been looking through many affiliate program directories and I am finding it very hard to see which ones are honest and of quality.

Can you help me? Can you please point me in the right direction of any reputable fashion bloggers directories or affiliate program directories?

Thank you very much and I really appreciate your help!

Yeah sorry wasn't having a dig, I wouldn't want to take any chances if I was in your position also. Just glad you published your findings for people like myself to find. The so called sales rep said he would email me more info about how there "clever targeting system" works but low and behold I have received nothing from him!!! Thanks again, I'll keep an eye on and see if the page on FB is removed or not, here is hoping!

Had a call from a guy called Leon. His sales pitch was very regimented and scripted and pitching to myself (the appointed office Facebook guru) it was quite fascination and funny to hear what he thought he knew. Definitely 100% scammer's trying to take advantage of businesses who are still naive to Facebook and how it's ad system works. I don't see how legally they can do anything to you as they are breaking the terms of Facebook. I have reported their fan page and sent details onto my Facebook account manager to investigate further. Lovely stuff!

I'm glad some people managed to read it! as you can tell i'm not mentioning any companies or names, but i am stressing just how simple and easy to manage facebook marketing is, meaning it works pretty much the same way as PPC, and therefore is designed to work on a CPC/CPM auction model, you would NEVER need to pay a fixed fee to work with facebook in that way. as for paying to manage it? if one were so confident of results, one would agree to manage on a performance basis as well.

I had the jokers in question (F-P M) telephone my place of work to try and sell the company Facebook marketing, to which, I pointed out I was fairly well versed in basic SEO techniques and "why don't I just do it myself?" using the very Facebook ad system they would be using. Their reply - "we know how to tune it for you and people don't have the time" What? I'm a bloody IT Manager for a small business; why the hell would I not have the time to target people who 'Facebook Like' the products we sell whilst setting up a PPC campaign? How exactly is paying a third party £199 + VAT for a 4 week experiment beyond my capabilities?

DOH!

Thanks to Facebook keeping old links alive I found the reference to your article, I only wish I could have read it when it was up.

I wanted to see some examples of their website work as well to see if it passed WC3 validation, but there were unusally, no links to their clients.
